GOOD TO KNOW
Frequently asked questions
Is counseling confidential?
Yes. What you share is treated with care and respect. We’ll explain confidentiality and its limits at the start so you know what to expect, and we work hard to create a space where you can speak honestly without fear of judgment.
Do we need to come in as a couple, or can one person start?
Either is welcome. Some couples begin together right away; others start with individual sessions to stabilize emotions and clarify goals. We’ll help you choose a starting point that feels safest and most supportive for your situation.
What does affair-repair counseling actually focus on?
We focus on immediate stabilization, understanding what happened, repairing ruptures, and rebuilding trust over time. Sessions often include communication tools, boundaries, accountability, and a clear plan for healing—without rushing decisions or forcing a quick “fix.”
How long does the process take?
It varies. Some people need a few sessions for clarity and coping; others benefit from a longer arc of repair work. We’ll check in regularly about progress and pace, and adjust the plan so it stays realistic, steady, and doable.
What if we’re in crisis right now?
You don’t have to have it all figured out to reach out. If things feel urgent—high conflict, constant spirals, or feeling emotionally overwhelmed—tell us. We’ll focus first on grounding, safety, and next steps, then move into deeper repair work when you’re ready.
What if we’re not sure we want to stay together?
That’s more common than you might think. Counseling can help you slow things down, reduce reactivity, and explore your options with care. The goal is clarity and healing—whether that leads to rebuilding the relationship or separating with respect.
Does Virtual Counseling Really Work As Well As In-Person Therapy?
Yes! With Virtual Counseling we find there is an Increased Consistency.
And, by eliminating commutes and waiting rooms, we save clients an average of
121 minutes per visit. This significant convenience drastically reduces no-show
rates and improves overall treatment adherence.
Virtual Counseling also reduced anxiety because attending sessions from the
privacy of home removes the intimidation of visiting an office. This allows many
clients to open up faster and feel more secure in their environment.
How Does EMDR help a traumatized person heal?
EMDR Resolves Trauma and PTSD because it effectively targets and processes deep-rooted traumatic memories,
reducing flashbacks and intrusive thoughts. In addition, EMDR:
- Rewires Negative Beliefs: Helps shift limiting core beliefs (such as “I am in danger” or “I am not enough”) into adaptive, empowering ones.
- Alleviates Physical Symptoms: Reduces the bodily tension, panic, and hyperarousal frequently associated with trauma, anxiety and chronic stress.
- Offers Faster Relief: Often produces profound, lasting results more rapidly than standard cognitive therapies, without requiring you to recount every detail of your past trauma.
Reach Out: Take the next step toward clarity and repair
You don’t have to sort this out alone. Share what’s happening in a confidential, nonjudgmental consultation, and we’ll talk through your options and a steady plan for moving forward—at a pace that feels safe.
